Bangladesh surpassed India as the world's second largest textile exporter in 2013. Textile exports in the country increased to $20.4 billion in 2013, up from $19.2 billion in 2012. The increase might be ascribed to rising worldwide demand for Bangladeshi textiles. Garments, yarns and textiles, and carpets and rugs account for the majority of the country's textile exports. Due to its great competitive edge in low-cost clothes and good cotton production circumstances, Bangladesh has maintained its position as the world's second biggest textile exporter.

upcoming time in Bangladesh. In 1978 he sent 130 trainees to South Korea to
learn about how to made readymade garments. After completion of their training
these 130 trainees started textile export business in Bangladesh. In 1980 Desh
Garments name company gives one of the major breakthrough in garments export.
